Staying Comfortable Through a Third-Trimester Summer
Jun 23, 2026
A summer due date comes with its own particular flavor of pregnancy. You’re carrying the most weight you’ll carry, your body is busiest, and you’re doing it through the heat and humidity of a Valley July/August. If you’re in the home stretch and feeling every bit of it — the swelling, the aches, the restless nights — you are not being dramatic. It’s genuinely a lot.
Physically, the third trimester asks the most of your frame. Your center of gravity is fully shifted forward, your pelvis and low back are carrying real load, and ligaments loosened by pregnancy hormones change how everything moves. Add summer swelling and the general discomfort of late pregnancy, and comfort can feel hard to come by.
This is a season where gentle prenatal chiropractic can offer welcome support. Care focuses on keeping the pelvis and spine moving and balanced as your body manages its heaviest, busiest stretch, using positioning and pillows adapted for a very pregnant body so you’re comfortable on the table. The goal is simply to help your changing structure stay as mobile and comfortable as possible.
Between visits, the summer basics matter most. Stay well-hydrated, since heat and pregnancy both pull on your fluids. Put your feet up to ease swelling, and keep gently moving — short walks in the cool of morning or evening help circulation and stiffness. Sleep with a pillow between your knees, and lean on cool showers and shade on the hottest days.
At Valley Family Wellness & Chiropractic, supporting moms through every season is close to our hearts. If you’re in the home stretch and aching, we’d love to help you stay as comfortable as possible right through to the finish.
