Eating Clean? Make Sure You Clean What You Are Eating!
Jul 30, 2025When we think of clean eating, we often focus on what we’re putting on our plates — whole foods, organic produce, fewer packaged snacks. But how we prepare that food matters too, especially when it comes to fruits and vegetables.
Even produce from your own backyard garden can be exposed to dust, bugs, bacteria, animal droppings, and natural residue. And if you’re buying organic produce from the store or farmers’ market, it’s just as important to give it a thorough cleaning.
Here’s a simple, natural DIY fruit & veggie cleaner you can make at home:
DIY Produce Wash Recipe
- 1 cup distilled white vinegar
- 4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- Juice of 1 lemon
Mix in a large bowl or spray bottle (watch for fizzing), soak or spray your produce, and rinse thoroughly after 5–10 minutes. This helps remove pesticide residue, wax, and grime.
If you want a ready-made, essential oil–infused option, I recommend Young Living’s Fruit & Veggie Soak or Spray. It's powered by natural cleansing agents and essential oils like lemon and thyme. A few drops go a long way, and it leaves your produce clean and fresh without any chemical aftertaste.
Clean food = better digestion, fewer toxins, and more peace of mind. Make washing your produce part of your wellness ritual this summer!
